MICK OVERMAN
Long regarded as one of the west coast's hardest working (as many as 379 performances in one year) and prolific artists, Mick Overman comes to Gilroy as a West Coast legend.
Overman's bio describes his musical style as "bluesy folk 'n' roll with jazz attitude," but over the phone, his self-effacing humor proves more colorful: "I like to call it 'Berklee School of Caveman'." In addition to being an impactful and dynamic solo performer Overman's band consistently features some of the bay area's most gifted and talented musicians.
He has been honored by the Special Awards Panel of the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) every year since 1994.
Fans of his live performances encouraged him to do an acoustic project for years. Having spent the better part of several of them on the road, averaging 300 shows per year up and down the west coast, it was the only thing that made sense. Overman's splendid acoustic style is a musical journey worth every magic mile.
Overman has appeared with the likes of Taj Mahal, Robben Ford, Leon Russell, Kelly Joe Phelps, and David Lindley & Wally Ingram. When not performing solo, Overman plays acoustic-electric gigs with The Maniacs, a talented cadre of session/sidemen for some of the biggest names in rock 'n' roll and blues circles.
