Guitar Teachers Bios
Steve Gorman has played his guitar on the Central
Coast area for many years. He's been a regular in the house
band for the California Rodeo, was a guest musician with
the
South Valley Symphony, and worked in the orchestras for local
theatre groups. He has worked with studio musicians from
Nashville
and Branson, and with many local bands, most recently the "South Bay Swing Band" and the "Steve Chambers
Quintet." He appears on several CDs and is currently
working on his second solo effort. Steve has been with Gilroy
Guitar Gallery since it opened its doors.
Noelle Sladon has been a guitar teacher at Gilroy
Guitar Gallery for the past five years. With a wide background
as a vocalist, guitar player and piano teacher, she has been
performing in bands for more than 25 years. Her current band,
Shiloh, has played a variety of venues in the Bay Area, including
San Jose, Gilroy, Hollister, and more. Noelle has a Master's
Degree in Counseling Psychology, and is a Licensed Marriage
and Family Therapist with a private practice in Hollister.
A Music Major at DeAnza College, Noelle received a B.A in
Theatre Arts from San Jose State University.
Todd Kimball has been playing guitar and
mandolin for 31 years and is quite
proficient in a variety of syles. He's played in theater
groups, jazz
quintets as well as big bands, blues bands, rock bands, country
bands,
and bluegrass bands. He studied jazz improvisation and arranging
with
Ray Brown at Cabrillo College and has studied with some of
the bay
areas finest jazz guitarists. He offers a wealth of knowlege
in the
areas of music theory, arranging for solo guitar, bluegrass
mandolin,
flatpicking, fingerpicking, jazz guitar, and rock and roll
styles.
Todd encourages all his students to learn to read music and
caters the
lessons to the students musical needs. He's a very "user
friendly" teacher.
Todd Cleave has
taught guitar and banjo (5-string, plectrum) in traditional
styles since 1957. He learned his "licks" in
Berkeley, CA in the late '50s. Since the '60s Todd has taught
guitar to adults and youths for the Monterey Unified School
District and various music stores including, ABC Music and
Gospel Sound & Music in the Monterey Bay Area. Todd holds
a Life Credential in California State Teaching for guitar.
He teaches all styles including traditional blues, folk,
and slide guitar, and is a closet Dixieland Jazz banjo player.
